The People: The Heart and Soul of a Country

I went to the Philippines this summer and I've had the pleasure of divulging into my culture and learning new things. I wanted to remind myself of what I was leaving behind when I came back to the United States and the heart and soul of the Philippines, its people. Too often, tourists don't pay attention to the people and what they have to offer other than souvenirs. I hope that when people go out of the country for vacation, that they take away more than pretty pictures, souvenirs, and remember the culture without minimizing it to stereotypes and aesthetics. The Filipinx people are often looked over in Western media and boxed into nurses and caretakers, so I wanted to post a photo set to disprove that.
