"Where's My Abs?"

"Midriff" by Leo Sanchez
Media often highlights the body disorders faced by women, but often fail to make this problem universal between both men and women. According to NEDA, "20 million women and 10 million men will suffer from a clinically significant eating disorder at some time in their life." Men suffer from the same body disorders as women such as anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, and binge eating disorder. However, society has instilled a masculinity expectancy for men. This has caused men to not seek treatment in fear of being labeled "feminine." Granted the severity of the disease, society must band together to fight the social standard of beauty. Male or female, the point is, there should be no standard.
