Dear Diary: Zeke Quintana

Zeke Quintana

All I remember about coming out to my mom was the way I could hear my own pulse and the way my words seemed to be suppressed by the closing of my throat. The way my breathing seemed to become more labored as I neared the three words I didn't want my mom to hear. "Mom I'm Gay."

I knew she wouldn't support me nor encourage me to embrace my sexuality, but I couldn't careless. I wanted to be happy and this seemed to be the first step. To this day my mother's opinion on my sexuality has not changed but I will not let that stop me from becoming who I am meant to be.
